Default Why not.......

.....use the acoustics that you have available to you, instead of spending you're entire life trying to control everything?

It's perfectly possible that something like your hallway, bathroom or similar has the perfect acoustic and reverb for that elusive vocal line, or acoustic instrument. Stroll around your house, playing/singing to find the right spot and then record using the natural reverb (maybe even using a 2nd mic just to pick up the reverb) - you could be very surprised by how good the results are!

One of the most beautiful vocal lines I was involved in recording was eventually recorded in a hallway between empty classrooms of a school!

I seem to remember setting up a 'vocal booth' in my friends bathroom once, with the singer standing in the bath (dressed Sounded great!
